Troop 5 Scoutmaster Announcements – Sep 15, 2026

It was great to have a few visitors this Tuesday. Keep spreading the word everyone – we are always open to new scouts!

Registration for Winter Camp at Pipsico (January 15-18) opens this Saturday and is expected to sell out almost immediately. We need firm commitments by THIS Friday from any scouts who want to attend. The council does not offer refunds.

This four day, three night camp is specifically designed to provide a great opportunity for Scouts to hone their cold weather camping skills, complete advancement requirements, earn merit badges (some of which are not typically offered at summer camps), and have lots of fun! Just like a Summer Camp, all meals are included with your registration and served within the Dining Hall. There are no other additional fees for merit badges sessions or programs. Over 40 merit badges will be offered (including at least 5 Eagle-required merit badges).

For those attending this weekend’s campout at the council-sponsored Air-O-Ree at the NAS Oceana Air Show, remember to pack a chair, ear protection, and mess kit. If you need any of those items, we do have some spares available to use; please just ask. We will meet at the church at 6pm to pack up and head out. Please be sure to eat beforehand or bring a bag dinner with you.

We currently plan to have a show & tell next Tuesday, where all scouts can bring an object of their choice and explain the engineering in its creation and its use. (This is not a test; your best guess if perfectly ok.)

Finally, our troop centennial celebration is tentatively planned for December 5th. Stay tuned for more details coming soon.
